Two dead in crash; Scene not discovered for hours

NEWRY, Pa. -- Police said there were no witnesses to a crash that killed two people, leaving the scene unnoticed for hours.

Freedom Township police said two people were killed in the crash on Dunnings Highway (Old Route 220) just outside of Newry early Monday morning.

Police said the first call about the crash was reported at about 7:30 a.m., when a passing motorist noticed a crashed vehicle, but when emergency crews arrived on scene, it became apparent the crash happened hours earlier.

Police said Dustin Claycomb, 30, and Paige Musselman, 21, both of Claysburg, were killed in the crash, that police estimate happened at about 2:30 a.m.

Police said Claycomb was driving an SUV and apparently lost control, went off the road, struck a utility pole, crossed through a yard and rolled the vehicle several times before it came to rest on the bank of Poplar Run.

Police said several neighbors heard the crash, but no one noticed any apparent damage or saw the scene overnight.

Claycomb and Musselman were both ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Police said they are not sure what may have caused the crash and toxicology tests were pending for the victims.
