STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Police are investigating a couple of apartment burglaries in Centre County.

State College police said two apartments along the 600 block of West College Avenue were burglarized on Monday. They said the crime went unreported until Christmas Eve.

"It is atrocious becuase just to have that happen to your normally that is bad, but to happen so close to christmas that makes things worse," Mike Lamborn said.

Community memebers like Lamborn were shocked to learn the details but according to police these types of crimes are more common at this time of the year.

They said while people are away for the holiday it can make their unattended home a a vulnerable target.  One man said this crime has gotten him to rethink his security when he goes away.

"It will give me pause  to think about what I keep hidden in my apartment and who I want to tell when i leave for a period of time," Josh Bonaquist said.

Police said televisions were stolen from both apartments.

There was no immediate information available about any suspects, and police said their investigation was ongoing.
