SPRING TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A man in Centre County was arrested on DUI charges while driving a stolen farm tractor in the middle of the night after picking up a sandwich at a nearby gas station, police said.

Police in Spring Township said a 24-year-old man was stopped by police in the 800 block of East College Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was driving a full-sized John Deere farm tractor.

Police, who did not identify the driver, said he was returning from the nearby Pleasant Gap Uni-Mart and had just purchased a hoagie and cigarettes.

Police said he was returning to the Jacksonville Road area and was heading to get on Interstate 99.

Police said DUI charges are pending following blood-alcohol content analysis.
