Child also inside home at time of raid

Authorities in Cambria County said a "significant" drug bust in a Johnstown home has put two people in jail.

Johnstown police said Shavon Baskin and Dante Bradford were arrested Thursday after police served a search warrant at their apartment in the 600 block of Highland Avenue in the Moxham section of the city.

Police said in a criminal complaint that they found large amounts of heroin and crack cocaine, as well as marijuana, drug packaging items and more than $7,000 in cash inside the home.

Police said Baskin's 7-year-old child was also in the home at the time.

During the search, police said the couple tried to hide some of the drugs by throwing them out of a window, but police found the drugs outside.

With regard to the child inside the apartment, Johnstown Police Chief Craig Foust said, "We have to protect the children and innocent victims."

Foust said, "The drug world is a violent world. Obviously that's been shown by a lot of our recent homicides. Anything can happen."

Both were arraigned and placed in the Cambria County Prison. Bradford was being held on $250,000 bond and Baskin on $100,000, court dockets showed.
