Altoona Water Authority lifts drinking water ban Sunday
BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. --
A drinking water restriction that was in place for nearly 48 hours has been lifted.
The Altoona Water Authority said it initially impacted customers in the Hollidaysburg area.
An automated message said the ban was lifted as of 7 p.m. on Sunday after the authority and Department of Environmental Protection conducted extensive field and lab tests.
The message said the water supply is safe for all uses including but not limited to drinking, showering, brushing teeth, etc. A vague threat was called in late Friday night.
Hollidaysburg Borough Police are conducting interviews to find the source of the threat. On Saturday and Sunday, volunteers with the Kittanning Volunteer Fire Company were offering drinking water to those affected by the water supply threat.
