Sen. denied request to intervene in NCAA suit

By: WJAC Web Staff

Pennsylvania State Sen. Jack Corman has been denied a request to intervene in a pending lawsuit filed by National Collegiate Athletic Association against the state of Pennsylvania.

The NCAA claims a new law sponsored by Corman is unconstitutional because it would require that money from fines paid by Pennsylvania universities stay in Pennsylvania.

WJAC-TV's news partners at the Centre Daily Times report that Corman sought legal standing so he could ask a judge to dismiss the lawsuit, but his request was denied.

Corman, a Republican from Bellefonte, has his own separate lawsuit pending against the NCAA.
