Family happy to be alive after truck crashes through their home

By: Kerri Corrado

BERLIN, Pa.--

A home on Huckleberry Highway in Stonycreek Township, Somerset County, was badly damaged when a truck slammed into it Friday afternoon.

The truck driver and family living inside were not hurt, but investigators say the driver failed to negotiate the curve.

Josh Wible was taking a break from yard work until a truck came crashing through the living room where he was sitting. It just missed him.

"While I was up there, I heard a noise and I knew something was happening," Barbara Ray said.

Ray was at her desk when she said she jumped up and ran to her window, seeing the truck through her house.

"Immediately I was screaming for my son because I didn't know if he was OK," Ray said.

The living room was badly damaged, but Ray said she is relieved her family is safe.

"Every time I walk back into the room, I couldn't believe I was alive," Wible said.

"We don't even feel safe in our own house anymore. We don't think we can live here anymore," Ray said.

The family urges everyone to slow down and follow the speed limit.
