National drug take back day set for Saturday

State and local police taking back unused prescription drugs

HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. State and local police departments will be collecting unused and expired medications at locations on Saturday across the 6 News viewing area.

State police officials said agencies will be accepting unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs as part of the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day that is headed by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.

Eight area state police barracks and two municipal police departments have notified 6 News of their drug take back events.

Troopers at state police barracks at Bedford (171 Arthur Hershey Dr.), DuBois (101 Preston Way, Falls Creek), Emporium (12931 Route 120), Hollidaysburg (1510 N. Juniata St.), Huntingdon (10637 Raystown Rd.), Indiana (Route 286 Highway West) and Rockview (745 S. Eagle Valley Rd., Bellefonte) will be collecting medications.

Troopers from the Philipsburg barracks will be collecting at the Weis Market at 501 N. Centre St. in Philipsburg.

The Ferguson and Patton township police departments will also have a joint take back event at the Giant Food Store at 255 Northland Center in State College.

All take back events are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. State police said no personal information will be needed to drop off any medications.
