Police: Drug death arrest

CLEARFIELD, Pa. -- A Millerton man is behind bars after police said he gave his friend drugs that killed him.

Police said Ryan Ray gave Lance Steelman a lethal dose of heroin back in July at the Clarion Hotel on Rich Highway in DuBois.

Ray faces a number of charges including drug delivery resulting in death.

Less than two years ago the charge was deemed unconstitutional but as of Friday Clearfield District Attorney Bill Shaw said it is back on the books.

"They've amended the law, they've gotten the statutory scheme squared away," Shaw said. "This is another tool that we can put into our toolbox to pursue criminal charges in these cases because we do have drug over doses."
