Dozens of arrests made over one year

By: Marc Stempka

FERGUSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. Officials with the Centre County Alcohol Task Force released information regarding drivers arrested for driving under the influence and drivers committing other traffic violations over the course of the past year.

In a release from the task force, between Oct. 1, 2012, and Sept. 30, 2013, police officers working assigned patrols made 68 DUI arrests. The numbers only reflected the assigned special details and not arrests made during general patrols.

During the same time period, officers issued 29 minors law violations, 45 non-traffic citations, 242 traffic citations and 809 warnings, officials said.

The task force was a state funded grant and has been renewed for the 2013-2004 year, the release said. Officers will be focusing on drug-related DUI arrests in the coming year.

Officers from Ferguson Township, Patton Township, Spring Township, State College, Bellefonte and Penn State University police departments and the Centre County Sheriffs Office participated in the patrols over the past year.
