Cambria Co. Chief of Staff resigns

6 News has learned that Cambria County's chief of staff has resigned. It's a position Dave Knepper has only held since last year.

The resignation apparently came last Monday. That's when Knepper's letter of resignation was date. There have been some rumors as to why he stepped down, so 6 News went to the courthouse to get some answers.

Knepper was appointed as chief of staff for Cambria County last year when Mike Gelles resigned. Kneppers position was part time, but Cambria County president commississoner Doug Lengenfelder told 6 News it's a job that requested long hours, oftentimes a full day.

Lengefelder said Knepper's resignation is something he'd thought about doing before. He said Knepper thanked the county for the opportunities he was presented and said he had enjoyed his time but was ready for a change, saying he plans on pursuing other interests and, more important, spending time with his family.

Lengenfelder added that Knepper is a great guy who did a great job and will be missed. He assured 6 News that Knepper was not forced out and that his resignation was all his own.

Lengenfelder said a replacement for Knepper is underway. There's no time frame set for when the position will be filled, but Lengenfelder said it will most likely be an internal hire.
