Timmons leaving Steelers, signs with Dolphins
PITTSBURGH -- Linebacker Lawrence Timmons is leaving the Steelers after 10 seasons.
He is signing a two-year, $12 million deal with the Miami Dolphins, according to ESPN and NFL Network.
The deal includes $11 million guaranteed.
Timmons was the first draft pick selected in the Mike Tomlin era.
He had 981 career tackles, 35.5 sacks and 12 interceptions with the Steelers.
The NFL's free agency period opened Thursday at 4 p.m.
