Penn State hockey wins Big Ten Tournament
DETROIT -- Over the course of two-plus days, Penn State hockey played the equivalent of four complete hockey games. The marathon run certainly paid off, however. Penn State defeated Wisconsin 2-1 in double overtime to win the program's first Big Ten Conference Tournament Championship.
Liam Folkes scored a breakaway with seven minutes into the second overtime period, sending Penn State's bench into a flurry of hugs, gloves and tears.
Freshman goalie Ben Jones was named Tournament MVP. He made 51 saves in the title game.
The Lions' play in the tournament also secured an appearance in the NCAA tournament.
