Nittany Lions finish winter workouts
UNIVERSITY PARK -- The defending Big Ten Conference champion Penn State Nittany Lions will kick off spring practice on March 22.
Friday the program finished winter workouts with what they call "max out" day, when the players attempt to set personal records in the weight room.
Several players did just that Friday, including Altoona's Kevin Givens who reportedly squatted 500 pounds, seven times.
Newcomer and highly touted recruit Lamont Wade is also turning heads in the strength and conditioning program, according to Dwight Galt, the team's performance enhancement coach.
"He is a quick learner, with a big heart and a great work ethic, he has just exploded," Galt said.
Penn State will hold 15 spring practices leading up to the Blue-White game on April 22.
