11 participate in Penn State football's 2017 Pro Day

Penn State Football Pro Day 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Compared to last year and the hype surrounding quarterback Christian Hackenberg, this year's Penn State Pro Day was rather quiet. But it still gave NFL scouts the chance to see 11 players, including receiver Chris Godwin, who used his NFL Scouting Combine performance to bring his draft stock to the second round.

"I wasn't really looking for validation for my decision to come out. I really feel like I was ready and the fact that I had the Combine that I did was beneficial," Godwin said.

Joining Godwin at the combine was defensive lineman Garrett Sickels, another player to declare early for the draft - unlike Godwin, Sickels struggled to perform his best in early March, so he was making sure to use Pro Day to prove his capabilities to the scouts.

And he was able to boost his running times and jumping numbers from the Combine, even hitting personal records for the jumps.

"I feel a lot better, a lot better. Just being able to put the times that I have seen myself do before and definitely a big relief for me," Sickels said.

All the former Nittany Lions joined together in their old indoor-practice facility to soak up their last moments competing together.

"It's surreal. Obviously coming off the season we had. We always still talk about it. That season was crazy, but it feels good to wrap it all up," linebacker Brandon Bell said.

After Pro Day, these players are one step closer to living out their NFL dreams.

"So for me to really be here, it's a blessing and it's an awesome experience," Godwin said.

The 2017 NFL Draft begins on April 27.
