JOHNSTOWN -- Gary Lantz won by major decision at 174 lbs. to give the eighth-ranked Pitt-Johnstown wrestlers a three-point lead, but 12th-ranked Kutztown University closed the match with three consecutive wins to snap Pitt-Johnstown's 16-match unbeaten streak with a 19-13 victory, Friday night in the Sports Center.  The Mountain Cats slipped to 2-1 and 0-1 in the PSAC.

Seventh-ranked Dave Fogle got Pitt-Johnstown started with a solid 3-0 win over Tom Traxler at 125 lbs., but Kutztown bounced back with two straight wins of their own.

The Golden Bears got a 15-2 major decision from sixth-ranked Evan Yenolevich over Evan Link at 133 lbs., and Mitch Voelker defeated Luke Palamides 4-3 at 141 lbs. to put Kutztown in front 7-3.

It continued to see-saw back and forth.  Kutztown regained the lead with Justin Heller's narrow 6-5 win over John Blankenship at 165 lbs., but Lantz, a two-time National Qualifier, picked-up four team points for the Mountain Cats and gave Pitt-Johnstown a 13-10 advantage with a 9-1 major decision over Bo Candelaria at 174 lbs.

The Golden Bears evened the score when Giovanni Ortiz built a 9-1 lead after one period and held of Nikos Garafola, 11-9, in the 184-lb. bout.

It came down to the final two matches.  However, Kutztown got an 8-3 win by Brandon Clark over Zak Newton at 197 lbs., forcing eighth-ranked Josh Duplin to pull off an upset of NCAA No.- 1-ranked Ziad Haddad at 285 lbs.  It wasn't to be, as Ziad defeated Duplin, 9-3, securing the 19-13 Golden Bears' victory.
