REPORT: O'Brien agrees to interview with Houston Texans

Updated: Friday, December 27 2013, 01:06 AM EST

By Ashley Chase, citing NFL Network

A developing story, the NFL Network is reporting that Penn State football Head Coach Bill O'Brien has agreed to an interview with the Houston Texans. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says that, according to sources familiar with the team's process. O'Brien and the Texans agreed to have an interview after Christmas, which means it's already happened or it will happen in the near future. O'Brien's NFL buyout was reduced from $13 million to $6.5 million back in March. That news was made public in June and has been more recently brought to light because of a variety of coaching vacancies. Former Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith has also interviewed for the Texans job. The Texans fired Gary Kubiak earlier in December, after the team started 2-11 this season. We'll have more information on this story as it becomes available.
