Pens' Orpik Uneasy On Sochi Games

Updated: Wednesday, January 22 2014, 12:11 AM EST

PITTSBURGH -- Eleven members of the Penguins organization will be headed to the Sochi Winter Olympic Games in the coming weeks -- seven players, three coaches, and one member of the team's quality control staff -- and there is unease on what they might be walking into.

Sochi is in the middle of a georgraphic and political powder keg. Its location in southwest Russia has it situated near the Middle East, while President Vladimir Putin is widely unliked amongst the Russia population. All this adds up to terror attack threats on the Games being made in the last few weeks, as well as other terror attacks in other parts of the country.

Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik, who will represent Team USA in Sochi, says he is not concerned about the security of the Olympic Village, but is unsure what to expect in other sections of Sochi, including where his wife and father will be staying.
