Updated: Saturday, January 25 2014, 02:13 AM EST

The wait is finally over!  James Franklin announced his complete football coaching staff today, many of whom were on staff with the 41-year-old Franklin at Vandy.  Franklin's staff includes seven former Commodore coaches and even a former Penn State wide-receiver.

So let's meet the new Penn State assistant coaches.

Bob Shoop: Defensive Coordinator/Safeties Coach

Shoop was the same position for three years at Vanderbilt under Franklin.  Under Shoop, the Commodores finished in the Top 25 for total defense each season and held opponents to 18.7 ppg in 2012.  The Yale graduate has 25 years of coaching experience including stops at William & Mary, Boston College, Army and Virginia.

John Donovan: Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends Coach

The OC and running backs coach during the Franklin tenure at Vandy, Donovan ignited the Commodores posting three of the top four total yardage marks in school history, including a school record in 2012 with 4,936 yards.  The Johns Hopkins graduate helped Vandy's offense average 30 points per game in 2012 and 2013.

Charles Huff: Special Teams Coordinator/Running Backs Coach

Huff comes to State College after spending eight years at both the collegiate and professional ranks.  Huff was the assistant running backs coach for the Buffalo Bills in 2012 and successfully orchestrated the 6th best rush offense in the league.  Huff spent last year at Western Michigan with the same role doubling the team's previous team rushing total.

Brent Pry: Assistant Head Coach/Co-Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach

An Altoona, Pa. native, Pry has 21 years of coaching experience with his first two at East Stroudsburg where Franklin was an all-conference quarterback.  Pry, a University of Buffalo graduate, has coached at Virginia Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, and Western Carolina.  He has led his schools to nine total bowl appearance during his tenure.

Josh Gattis:  Offensive Recruiting Coordinator/Wide Receivers Coach

A former Chicago Bears safety, Gattis has coached wide receivers at both Western Michigan and Vanderbilt.  The Wake Forest grad has mentored two record-setting wide receivers in Jordan White and Jordan Matthews.  Matthews, a two-time All-American, finished as the SEC's career receptions leader.

Herb Hand:Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach

With 24 years of coaching under his belt, Hand spent the last four seasons as Vanderbilt's offensive line coach.  His line blocked for 34 rushing touchdowns last season.  Hand has sent two lineman to the NFL with Thomas Lynch heading to New England in 2010 and Ryan Seymour was taken by the Seahawks in the 2013 Draft.

Ricky Rahne: Passing Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach

After coaching with Franklin at Kansas State (06-07), Rahne joined Vanderbilt as quarterbacks coach in 2011.  He helped wide-receivers break multiple SEC records and had a running back go over the 1,000 yard mark in his three seasons.  Rahne, a formar Cornell quarterback, worked with current Vikings QB Josh Freeman while at Kansas State.

Terry Smith: Defensive Recruting Coordinator/Cornerbacks Coach

A former top-flight Nittany Lion wideout (1988-91), Smith spent the 2013 season at Temple working with the Owls' offense.  Temple set a school record for passing yards in 2013.  Prior to his stint at Temple, Smith was the head coach at Gateway High School from 2002-2012 leading the Gators to four WPIAL AAAA runner-up finishes.

Sean Spencer: Defensive Line Coach

Spencer comes to Happy Valley from Vanderbilt to replace Larry Johnson. His defensive units registered 27 sacks or more in his three seasons at Vandy.  Spencer has coached on both sides of the ball but his defensive lines have flourished.  A three-year-starting safety at Clarion, Spencer's coaching stints have included Bowling Green and Villanova.
