H.S. Roundup: Thomas breaks longtime Bishop McCort scoring record

JOHNSTOWN -- Bishop McCort senior Haley Thomas broke the school's all-time scoring record Tuesday night, scoring 27 points in a win over Central Cambria.

Former McCort standout Patty Bradley - who went on to a decorated track and field career at Villanova University and competed in the 1984 United States Olympic Track and Field Trials - has held the record (1,685 points) since 1980.

Thomas passed Bradley's mark with a putback in the fourth quarter, eventually running her scoring total to 1,690 points in the 67-42 win.

"It means so much to me," Thomas told 6 Sports.

"My team has pushed me so far. To have them be so happy for me makes me feel so blessed to be part of this team."

Thomas will play at Saint Francis University next season.
