Bishop McCort books trip to state championship game
ALTOONA -- Marv Levy is a legendary NFL coach who took the Buffalo Bills to four consecutive Super Bowls in the early 90s.
He's in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He would probably like John Hahn.
"It was a lot of pressure that I felt," said Hahn after Bishop McCort girls basketball's 68-57 win over Bellwood-Antis Monday night.
A victory that put the Crushers in Thursday's AA state championship game.
"I would hate people to say 'He's a hell of a coach but he can't get them over the hump.'
"I felt like the (former) coach of the Buffalo Bills. But that's all over now."
He's right, too. Hahn led McCort to a pair of PIAA semifinals prior to Monday, only to come up short in those crucial games. He's over the hump now.
Death, taxes, Thomas: Haley Thomas led the way for Bishop McCort - as she's done for the better part of four years - scoring 26 points against Bellwood-Antis. She's going to Hershey for the first time.
"I'm so happy that I can say that I'm going to play in a state championship," said Thomas. "Hopefully we can just come out on top with that, too."
The Crushers will play the winner of Minersville and Mahoney Area Thursday at noon. The other AA semifinal is Tuesday night.
