Somerset County man dies after being struck by ATV
STONYCREEK TOWNSHIP - State police in Somerset County are investigating a fatal accident involving an all-terrain vehicle Tuesday night. The deadly crash took the life of 24-year-old Brian Wright.
"It was a shock, he was so young," said Wright's close friend, Abigal Eash. "He was a very kind , generous, caring person and I think the one thing that mattered to him the most was his family, friends and his music."
Police said Ashton Danton, 21, was traveling northbound on Lambertsville Road on an ATV at a high rate of speed around 9:30 p.m. when he struck Wright, who was walking on the road.
Police said Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Ashton was Brian's best friend and I know he didn't mean to do it on purpose," said Eash. "I know he's probably going through a lot."
Danton suffered moderate injuries. He was taken by helicopter to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown.
