Tussey Mountain welcomes snowstorm
BOALSBURG -- This winter storm has brought a lot of closings and delays, but one business was happy to be open.
Tussey Mountain Ski Resort in Boalsburg had less natural snow than normal this winter so when they heard the storm was coming, the resort made sure they were prepared.
"Normally this time of year we would not be open on a week day in March but here we are," says Aaron Weyman, director of Marketing at Tussey Mountain Ski Resort.
"It's been really exciting the past few days,” Weyman said. “A couple of employees stayed overnight here so we could make sure we weren't stuck in our driveways."
In less than 24 hours, Weyman said they got more than eight inches of snow.
"This is definitely the first time that we have had all of our terrain open, this year and last year,” said Weyman. “This is an exciting day for us."
Weyman also says with the school closures, a lot of students have come out to enjoy their day off.
The ski resort is also looking to break a previous record.
"You know, a couple of years ago we were open into April,” Weyman said. “We'd love to kind of repeat that, and expand on that benchmark and set a new record."
Tussey Mountain will be open Wednesday and this weekend.
