FERNDALE, Pa. - State Rep. Bryan Barbin will be facing a familiar face in the November general election.

Ferndale police Chief Jim Rigby defeated Justin Capoullez and Geistown Council President Sernell Tuesday night with 49 percent of the vote to win the Republican nomination.

Capouellez garnered 35 percent and Sernell 16 percent. This is the fourth time Rigby won the Republican nomination and will face Barbin for the 71st District seat.

In 2008 and 2010 Rigby narrowly lost to Barbin both times by less than 200 votes.

In January, Rigby said he still feels he is the best candidate to dethrone Barbin, who has had the seat since the 2008 election.

The 71st District represents the Johnstown area of Cambria County and Paint Township in Somerset County.
