Police identify victim involved in deadly I-80 pileup in Jefferson County
CORSICA – State police identified the victim who died in the 19-vehicle pileup on Interstate 80 in Jefferson County on Monday.
Police said Michael Mills, 52, of Ravenna, Ohio was killed in the crash.
State police said that Mills died in the crash and another person was flown to the hospital after a 19-vehicle pileup on Interstate 80 in Jefferson County.
Eleven drivers were taken to a nearby shelter to be assisted by the American Red Cross and a few others were treated at Penn Highlands Brookville.
The multi-vehicle accident took place around 11:30 a.m. near exit 73 in Union Township on Monday.
Police believe the pileup was caused by two separate crashes and was weather related.
Officials are advising motorists to avoid -80 eastbound, which is closed near mile marker 70.
All traffic is being detoured to Route 322.
Officials said deputy coroners had been sent to the scene.
At this time, police are still investigating but do not believe any charges will filed because they say the accident was caused by white-out conditions.
