Harrisburg homicide suspect picked up in Johnstown

JOHNSTOWN – Police detectives picked up a man in Johnstown Tuesday who was wanted for homicide in Harrisburg.

Derrick Butler, 30, of North Carolina, was picked up at the Public Safety Building around 1 p.m.

He is accused of shooting Jashun Patton, 18, of Philadelphia, multiple times Nov. 25.

Johnstown police Sgt. Charles Jeffers said Butler was picked up Tuesday just after 9 a.m. at Solomon Homes, Building 4, after U.S. marshals received a tip saying he was in Johnstown.

Harrisburg police said Butler was arrested without incident and will be taken to Dauphin County to be arraigned on criminal charges.
