Coroner identifies man found dead in Cambria County pond
PATTON – Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said a man’s body was found in a pond Friday morning in Clearfield Township.
Lees said the man, identified Saturday as Scott Bantly, 67, was reported missing at 7:50 a.m. from a nearby Skills of Central PA residence.
Officials said search parties were looking for the man and found his body floating in a pond on private property one half mile north of Route 36 and Willow Lane, near Patton.
A 911 official said police and emergency responders were dispatched at 10:47 a.m.
Lees pronounced the man dead at the scene. He planned to conduct an autopsy later Friday to determine the cause of death.
State police in Ebensburg said the man's death is not suspicious, but the investigation is ongoing.
Lees has not identified the man pending next of kin notification.
