$5,000 reward being offered for information on sheriff’s van fire
BELLEFONTE - A $5,000 reward is now being offered for information on a fire that destroyed a Centre County sheriff’s van last month.
The Centre County commissioners Tuesday morning approved the reward for information related to the Nov. 27 fire.
Police said it was early that morning when a sheriff’s transport van went up in flames while it was parked outside of the sheriff’s office in Bellefonte.
Video shows a man walking by the van several times before pouring what’s believed to be gasoline on the vehicle and lighting a fire.
Centre County Sherriff Bryan Sampsel says the van was relatively new, with only 1,200 miles on it, and was valued at close to $40,000.
